Mammals, Migrants & Waders. Titchwell 14 April

Sorry, not the Titchwell bird, I stuck it here to remind myself of what I should've seen!

We arrived at Titchwell at 7:45 to the sound of Blackcaps & Chiffchaffs. Charlie & I tried to get to the beach as quickly as possible to catch up with the reported Black Guillemot. However, an obliging Barn Owl, singing Sedge Warbler and Cetti's Warbler conspired to slow us down. When we finally reached the beach all we found was a single Great-crested Grebe & a Long-tailed Duck. We even missed a Ring Ouzel as it flew behind us.

The water levels on the Fresh Marsh is still very high but there were large numbers of Black-tailed Godwit & Avocet plus a couple of Spotted Redshanks. The Fresh Marsh also held my first Little Ringed Plover of the year.

The reed beds held a few calling Bearded Tits and quite a few Swallows, Sand Martins and House Martins. A Willow Warbler was calling in the carpark and a pair of Bullfinch were visible from the overflow carpark.
The Chinese Water Deer was close to the path on Thornham Marsh.

The mammal highlight was undoubtedly the pair of Water Voles swimming and feeding just a few feet from the path.
